Since the Fund was set up we have held numerous events to raise funds for Ed's Sport fund.
On 14th July Nathan Fox, one of Ed's oldest friends, ran the Dunstable Half Marathon
For Nathan it was a mixed experience. "It felt fitting that I ran the half marathon in Ed's memory the day after what was the third anniversary of his passing. Ed raised money for various causes through his athletic exploits but now I have used the opportunity to raise money for another cause I am sure he would approve of."
"The race was hard and there were a few too many hills for my liking but I'm really glad I did it for Ed. Is a full marathon in the plan? Never say never but for now, I am just glad this one is over!"

Also on 14th July Bertie Philips, another of Ed's oldest friends was due to take in the Swansea Ironman 70.3, an endurance test. However, juggling the intense training this needed with his type 1 diabetes and an ongoing hamstring injury proved too much, and Bertie was advised by his instructors and doctors of how dangerous it could be to continue.
For Bertie the disappointment is huge. "I'm committed to crossing that finish line as a personal tribute to Ed's spirit and legacy. It's about challenging and pushing myself in memory of someone who lived life to the fullest and continuing the work he was passionate about through Ed's Fund."

The third Memorial Tennis Match for Ed took place on a glorious August evening. The event was masterminded by Nick Wibberley, Ed's fantastic coach, ably assisted by Simon Pendergast Ed's doubles partner.
Over 40 people took to the course to play a wide mix of mini fun tennis matches that included playing wrong handed, using wooden racquets, and many other devious variations thought up by Nick.
The event raised over £300 for the Fund as well as being a fitting tribute to Ed, for whom, Polo Farm was his second home.
In early July, Ed's Dad once again got on to his bike to ride the 235 miles from Calais to Amsterdam.
"Having done it with Ed in 2015 and last year with the team, this year I decided I wanted to undertake it at least one more time, but one my own. Whilst there were advantages in having the flexibility to go at my own speed and choose where and when to go or stop, it was not the same as previous times. The weather was better despite being grey and the torrential rain we had last year held off long enough for me to get to that day's B&B"
The second Ed Glover Memorial Tennis tournament took place on Friday 18th August 2023. The tournament was again excellently organised by Nick Wibberley, Ed's longstanding tennis coach, Nearly 50 people took to the courts in pairs to play a number of matches. However, things were not that straight forward as each match played presented playing pairs with some form of twist to add to the challenge. Variations included using old-fashioned wooden racquets, playing with the opposite hand to usual, wheelchair tennis and a match in which each player had take every alternate shot.
A lucky break in the weather in last summer's dull and wet July allowed the second Ed Glover Memorial match to be played in bright sunshine. Again played between Street End and Canterbury U19s the match at Canterbury CC at Polo Farm took on a more leisurely approach where fun and enjoyment took more of a lead than competitiveness.
Although the result was not that important to either team, it was the U19s, most of whom by now in well in their 20s, took the trophy for the second year running .
260 miles in four days was the target for six bike riders in June last year as they took on the challenge to ride from Calais to Amsterdam.
And a challenge it was as burning sun in clear blue one day was followed by torrential rain and a supporting following wind on one day turned into a cold and blustery headwind the next. All this punctuated by punctures, falls, conjunctivitis and all round exhaustion.
But each challenge was overcome and at 4.00 p.m on the fourth last day the team rode on to the forecourt of Amsterdam Central Station.
Since the Fund was set up we have held numerous events to raise funds for Ed's Sport fund.
A glorious day July day saw the first Ed Glover Memorial Cricket match between Street End and Canterbury U19s, the two Club teams Ed played for.
In a fun and friendly match there was just enough rivalry to give a competitive edge to play.
The match was followed by a barbecue and together the event raised several hundred pounds for the Fund
